Our client, famous in Contract Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing is looking for Singapore based Business Development Manager who can contribute to their business in both Japan and China Market.

 

OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE:

Business Development Managers make up the field-based - Clinical Services salesforce and are responsible for managing business relationships with their allocated client base. They are responsible for ensuring that revenue targets for customers are met through regular face-face visits to client sites, and overseeing the preparation of proposals for client projects

 

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The post holder will:

 

  1. Promote the services offered to the pharmaceutical industry through face-face sales calls, attendance at conferences/exhibitions, and cold-calling activities.

 

  1. Liaise with multinational pharmaceutical, virtual and biotechnology companies to define their requirements for packaging of their products for clinical trials. Advising clients on technical aspects of clinical trial packaging. Provide detailed reports of these activities.

 

  1. Ensure that financial and call rate targets are met for all allocated current clients. Meet financial targets for new business development. 

 

  1. Use the above information to generate detailed proposals to the client, either personally or with the assistance of a Business Development Co-ordinator. This will involve liaising with several internal departments (Project Management, Operations, Design, Logistics, Procurement) in order to generate price and lead time information to be presented within the proposal. This will involve the use of Microsoft Windows-based packages (Word, Excel).

 

  1. Work with other departments to ensure that clients’ requirements as expressed in the proposal are clearly understood. This will include following-up with clients to ensure that any uncertainties that existed at the time of proposal generation are confirmed before work commences.

 

  1. Revise existing proposals in response to changes to client project specifications, and ensuring internal departments are made aware of such changes.

 

  1. Liaise with the Engineering/Design and Operations Departments and clients to produce a packaging design that meets the needs of their study and can be produced efficiently on production equipment. Working directly with suppliers or through purchasing to ensure that any externally purchased components meet the needs of the trial, are competitively priced, and arrive within the required timeframe.

 

  1. Either directly, or with the assistance of a Proposal Development Co-ordinator, entry of client and proposal information into Clinical Services ERP System (COSMOS) to allow accurate and timely generation of invoices upon completion of work. Use of this system to ensure that any materials ordered are accounted for in proposal prices prior to ordering.

 

  1. Aid Business Proposal Co-ordinators, Head of Business Development APAC, and VP Business Development in the preparation of long-term business forecasts.

 

  1. Ensure that all sales presentations are kept up-to-date, and include all of the latest developments.

 

  1. Give presentations to all visitors, whether the purpose of the visit is sales-related, a quality audit, or for some other purpose.

 

  1. This requirement is restricted to clients with whom Business Development and project teams work directly. In the case of quality audits, this remains the responsibility of the QA team and Business Development attendance will be discretionary.

 

  1. Work with VP Business Development, Head of Business Development, APAC and other senior management to ensure that business development strategies are implemented. Reporting any shortcomings in the strategy to VP Business Development or the Head of Business Development, APAC so that strategies can be amended in a timely manner.

 

  1. Share market information (customer contacts, reasons for lost orders, competitor intelligence, information on client companies) with VP Business Development and other members of the Business Development team.

 

This role requires skill and understanding listed below.

a. Business level of both Japanese and Chinese are required as this position targets Japan/China market and often need to communicate with external stakeholders with their mother tongue.

b. International travel (Approximately 35%) and coverage beyond normal working hours as required.  It is a condition of your employment that you are able to fulfil this requirement of the role.
