An established multinational metal manufacturing company in hiring for a Freight Specialist to be based at their regional HQ here in Singapore. This is a new headcount due to the business expansion.
Reporting to the Freight Manager, your main responsibility is to ensure all imported steel bar feedstock needs and traded products as defined through S&OP process and are delivered in full according to the timeline.
Job Responsibilities:
- Help negotiate and arrange shipments, coordinating with forwarders, carriers, and internal teams.
- Assist the Freight Manager with daily tasks, including post-shipment activities and paperwork.
- Track the shipping market and collect data to help with decision-making.
- Help the Freight Manager with sourcing and handling quotes for LCL, FCL, air, and rail shipments.
- Update shipping information in D365 and monitor open shipments.
- Track shipment invoices and request payments.
- Help resolve any claims or disputes during shipments.
- Attend meetings and industry events as needed.
To succeed in this role, you must have strong knowledge in break bulk and container freight.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in freight role
- Break bulk and/or container experience is a must.
- Strong knowledge of shipping process and documentation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
