About the Freight Manager, Global Role:
An established commodities company, is seeking a seasoned Senior Freight Manager (Global Role) to be based here in Singapore. Your main responsibility is to manage end to end freight operations focusing on lead time and cost management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a global freight and logistics strategy to keep our manufacturing facilities worldwide running smoothly.
Manage all transportation costs associated with imported steel bars and other products.
Build strong relationships with freight carriers, negotiating the best rates and service levels.
Leverage your expertise in freight classification, routing, ports, and claims to solve logistical challenges.
Lead the development and implementation of efficient freight management processes, from vendor selection to performance review.
Analyze supplier costs to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Oversee shipping documentation and conduct regular pricing reviews.
Contribute to global and local procurement budgets for raw materials in new markets.
Drive improvements in our third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
Ensure accurate freight invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
Provide weekly reports on market trends, freight rates, and future forecasts.
Collaborate with internal teams and customers to find solutions to logistical problems.
Lead and coach your team members within the logistics department.
Travel internationally to meet with suppliers when necessary.Combine your strategic sourcing skills with meticulous attention to detail to ensure on-time, cost-effective deliveries while managing global freight operations. Lead your team and negotiate optimal rates with carriers to become a key player in their thriving Singapore trading hub.
Key Requirements:
A degree is preferred, but experience is highly valued.
You have at least 8 years of experience in competitive logistics sourcing, ideally with extensive shipping experience between Asia to Latin America.
Break bulk experience is essential, with container cargo experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge in various shipping logistics methods such as container, break bulk & tankers.
In-depth knowledge of shipping operations, documentation, chartering, and cargo loading.
A background in ship broking or freight agency is a major advantage.
Proactive and take initiative to solve problems before they arise.
Master of detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of your work.
